Industrial apple prices are going down.
The end of last week brought a decrease in prices of industrial apples. However, this was not a widespread phenomenon. It only affected some purchasing centers. But regardless, such behavior of prices of this raw material at this particular moment should not be a big surprise for market participants. It could have been expected.
Let's remember that processing plants are taking a break in production during this time due to a longer weekend and holiday. The break will last at least until November 4th. This significantly affects the current demand for the raw material and favors attempts to lower prices. This is exactly what happened last Friday.
Some purchasing centers reported that the purchase prices of industrial apples dropped from 1.12-1.15 PLN/kg to the level of 1.08-1.10 PLN/kg, depending on the size of the deliveries. But as mentioned earlier, this does not apply to all purchasing centers. Some maintained stable prices. As a result, we currently have a range from 1.08 to 1.18 PLN/kg, depending on the region of the country and the size of the deliveries. This is an average decrease of just under 2 percent.
And how long can this price reduction last? Looking at what happened in the past, it should not be expected to be a very long period, although there is another long weekend coming up in November. But the factor of low availability of the raw material will eventually tip the scales.
