Horticulture New Zealand (HortNZ) chief executive Kate Scott pointed out that growers may be worried about the recent discovery of the Oriental fruit fly in Birkdale, on Auckland's North Shore. "Growers will be concerned because the Oriental fruit fly presents a significant threat to horticulture, as its larvae can pose a serious risk to fruit crops."
