A pair of Japanese Yubari melons sold for US$36,500 at auction.

A pair of Yubari melons from Hokkaido were sold for a record 5.8 million yen (US$36,500) at Japan's first melon auction of the season, surpassing the previous record of 5 million yen (US$31,500) set in 2019. The melons were auctioned at a wholesale market in Sapporo, and the winning bidder was Futami Seika.
