Hualien County in Taiwan is the top region for watermelon production, with around 1,600 hectares dedicated to cultivating the fruit. The first harvest is projected to produce 20,000 tonnes by mid-May. However, a 10% decrease in output is expected due to the low temperatures experienced this spring.
