The Rwandan government is currently working on developing bio-fortified varieties of Irish potatoes with the aim of addressing malnutrition and stunting. These potatoes are an important component of Rwanda's crop intensification program and are being enriched with essential nutrients, particularly iron and zinc. Currently, 12 varieties are being developed.
