What are the prices of peaches, nectarines, and apricots?

It is the beginning of August, more precisely, the second week of this month. What is the current situation on the Polish market for stone fruits: peaches, nectarines, and apricots? How are the prices of these fruits shaping up in the domestic wholesale market?

Let's start with the supply issues. We are still in the peak availability phase of these fruits, although there are already some disruptions in this state. However, this is mainly due to unfavorable weather conditions in July, rather than a strictly seasonal phenomenon, where current harvests begin to decrease in the second part of the campaign.

We are experiencing a decrease in supply primarily in the case of peaches, but also apricots. The supply of nectarines, judging by their prices, remains more stable. The prices of imported peaches have been slowly rising since July 15.

Currently, in bulk, they range from 5.00-6.00 PLN/kg, which is approximately 1.16-1.40 EUR/kg. In small wholesale, prices go up to 7.00 PLN/kg (about 1.63 EUR/kg). The prices of domestic peaches range from 4.00-7.00 PLN/kg (0.93-1.63 EUR/kg), although there is a lot of lower-quality goods offered at lower prices. For comparison, in the same period last year, imported peaches were offered on average for 4.50 PLN/kg (1.05 EUR/kg), and domestic ones for 3.75-4.50 PLN/kg (0.87-1.05 EUR/kg).

As for imported apricots, we also observe an increase in prices in this segment. Not as dynamic as in July when the average price in bulk increased sharply from 6.50 PLN/kg (1.51 EUR/kg) to 9.00 PLN/kg (2.09 EUR/kg). From the end of July, we have seen an increase from 7.00-10.00 PLN/kg (1.63-2.33 EUR/kg) to 7.00-12.00 PLN/kg (1.63-2.79 EUR/kg). Locally in small wholesale, prices go up to 15.00 PLN/kg (3.49 EUR/kg).

Polish apricots offered locally have prices ranging from 6.00-12.00 PLN/kg (1.40-2.79 EUR/kg). Imported apricots were offered on average for 7.00 PLN/kg (1.63 EUR/kg) last year, and domestic ones for 12.00-13.50 PLN/kg (2.79-3.14 EUR/kg), but in the second week of August 2023, it was 8.00-8.50 PLN/kg (1.86-1.98 EUR/kg).

Imported nectarines have maintained stable prices since mid-July. In bulk, it is mostly 5.00-7.00 PLN/kg (1.16-1.63 EUR/kg). Locally, prices go up to 7.50 PLN/kg (1.74 EUR/kg). There are still plenty of domestic nectarines, and demand for them is limited due to quality issues. Their prices are mostly 5.00-6.00 PLN/kg (1.16-1.40 EUR/kg). Imported nectarines were offered on average for 5.50 PLN/kg (1.28 EUR/kg) last year, and domestic ones for 6.00-6.50 PLN/kg (1.40-1.51 EUR/kg).
