Prices of Polish pears are still going up.

Wholesale prices of dessert pears in Poland have strengthened again in recent days. And it seems that we can already talk about a emerging upward trend. Especially since the recent price hikes of Conference pears bring an important qualitative change. Namely, the average price of this variety is now above the level from the same period in the previous season.

We can see this on our chart. Although such a situation has already occurred twice since the beginning of September this year, it lasted very briefly as in both cases it was a time when last year we had a temporary price low. Now it is somewhat similar. It would be highly significant for future forecasts if current prices could stay above last year's prices after November 20th. It was after November 20th, 2023 that the average price of Conference pears reached 4.00 PLN/kg, and before the beginning of December 4.15 PLN/kg.

What will happen this season? For now, the prices of dessert Conference pears have reached the range of 3.50-4.50 PLN/kg for the most common offers. But there are already offers for sale of these pears (larger sizes) at around 5.00 PLN/kg. It seems therefore that the potential for another upward shift in the average price is present in this market.
