Calm moment in the industrial raspberry plantation.

2024-07-26 09:00

The raspberry market in Poland has just transitioned from the phase of trading summer fruits to the phase of trading repeat varieties - which are the so-called autumn raspberries. This has resulted in a certain improvement in supply and a slowdown in the rise of prices for these fruits in the fresh market. However, the changes were not significant.

In the industrial raspberry segment, things were even calmer. The seasonal shift to autumn raspberries had no impact on prices whatsoever. Prices have remained stable since the beginning of the second decade of the current month. They are stable and relatively high. For raspberries for freezing (thus in the 1st class quality), prices range from 8.00-10.00 PLN/kg (1.86-2.33 EUR/kg), and for raspberries in the 2nd class, prices range from 7.50-8.50 PLN/kg (1.75-1.98 EUR/kg).

These prices are far from the records of the 2021 season, but it will be very difficult to return to those extremely high price levels. However, the current prices are definitely higher than the extremely low prices of last year. For frozen raspberries, prices have increased by 89 percent year-on-year, and for lower-quality raspberries, the increase is by 100 percent.

The stabilization of raspberry purchase prices that we witnessed in July, and especially their earlier - surprising to many - increase, were factors that clearly calmed the moods in this fruit market sector. There was nervousness before, as many feared a repeat of the low prices from the 2023 campaign. It turned out that prices quickly started to rise because the Polish processing industry had no cheaper raspberries to import, as was the case last year. The campaign is proceeding calmly and is likely to continue this way until its end.
