Industrial raspberries maintained their prices.

2024-08-13 08:37

In the dessert raspberry market, August of this year brought a noticeable decrease in prices. The average price of these fruits in wholesale trade fell by about 30 percent. This was the result of an increase in current supply, made possible by the entry of repeat raspberry harvests (autumn).

Yet, this increase in current domestic raspberry supply did not have as significant an impact on the prices of fruits for processing. This sector of the raspberry market (much larger in terms of volume than the dessert fruit sector) reacted much more resiliently.

At the beginning of August, we did experience price drops. Better quality fruits (for freezing) decreased by 17 percent, while lower quality fruits decreased by 9 percent on average. It was a fairly abrupt price reduction that occurred over a few days.

However, this did not continue. Even before the end of the first week of August, there was an upward correction. This pertains to the rise in average prices. The range of raspberry purchase prices for freezing shifted from 7.00-8.00 PLN/kg (1.62-1.86 EUR/kg) to 7.00-9.00 PLN/kg (1.62-2.09 EUR/kg), resulting in an increase in the average price by approximately 7 percent. The range of raspberry purchase prices for quality II shifted from 7.00-7.50 PLN/kg (1.62-1.74 EUR/kg) to 7.00-8.00 PLN/kg (1.62-1.86 EUR/kg), which is a +3 percent increase.

As can be seen, the lower limits of price ranges remained stable, indicating that some purchasers did not change their offers after the initial correction. However, there were some who slightly raised their prices. Not by much, but still a bit higher. This is particularly significant as it was a movement clearly contrary to the situation in the fresh market.
