Prices of dessert raspberries higher than in previous years.
The prices of dessert raspberries have increased, as predicted by many market participants. This increase was significant enough to push the average price of these fruits in large wholesale offers above the level of all quotations in a similar period of the previous five seasons. From the second highest price, it's only up by one złoty (0.23 EUR), but the significant fact is that it is more expensive than in the previous five years—so we have a situation diametrically opposite to that in June of the current year, when current quotations were the lowest in recent years.
Currently, the range of dominant selling prices for dessert raspberries in wholesale is 18.00-28.00 zł/kg (4.21-6.54 EUR/kg), depending primarily on the type of packaging, as well as on quality or region of the country. Raspberries are still the cheapest in the "heartland" of these fruits, in the Lublin region. There, offers can still be found at the level of 15.00-18.00 zł/kg (3.51-4.21 EUR/kg), but in relation to the entire market supply, this is becoming a smaller part.
As mentioned above, the advantage over the highest price from previous years is small (season 2021 and the quotation of 22 zł/kg (5.14 EUR/kg) from August 30th of the previous year). It's only 4.5 percent. Compared to last year, however, we have a much more impressive increase, as much as 23 percent. The question is, with more favorable weather in the coming days, could raspberry prices not experience a decline? Analysis of trends in previous seasons suggests that such a phenomenon is quite common. These are usually not significant price cuts anymore, but in this case, they may be sufficient for current quotations to fall below those from three years ago.
