Sour cherry prices are going up.

2024-07-01 08:27

The cherry harvest season is actually just starting. This means that the desire to acquire these fruits by purchasing companies and processors has been present for several days, but now the fruit collection for processing is starting on a larger scale. However, there is a scarcity of cherries. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be a significant improvement in this regard. Therefore, it's not surprising that prices for industrial cherries are showing a tendency to strengthen. This is happening more easily, as the initial prices offered at the purchasing points were more of a survey nature, to gauge the producers' willingness to sell the fruit at a lower price. In the case of cherries, this strategy apparently didn't work, and by the end of last week, the purchasing prices noticeably increased.

Currently, the prices for freezing cherries, which previously ranged from 3.50-4.50 PLN/kg, are now mostly in the range of 5.00-5.30 PLN/kg. On average, this represents an increase of nearly 29 percent. Additionally, prices for premium quality cherries have appeared, with the most common price being 3.00 PLN/kg. It's also worth noting that the upward trend in cherry purchasing prices emerged on Friday, but the transition to new prices occurred on Sunday. It was in yesterday's offers that a clear breakthrough and agreement among purchasing firms on the price reality level above 5 PLN per kilogram for freezing cherries were visible. There is a significant demand for these fruits in the market, and there is an awareness that this year's purchasing season may end very quickly.
