The government extends the abolition and reduction of VAT on basic foodstuffs for six months.
VAT is temporarily eliminated on staple foods such as fruit, vegetables and bread, while the reduction from 10% to 5% is maintained for pasta and oil.
The government has also decided to extend the diesel subsidy for professional farmers and stockbreeders, so that it will continue to be 10 cents per litre until
2008
