Cherries are one of the most eagerly awaited seasonal fruits in Europe, commanding premium prices during their short harvest window. On the Fresh-market.info portal, we publish daily wholesale prices and market reports from major exchanges and wholesale markets in Poland (including Bronisze, Wroclaw, Poznan), as well as key EU countries — Italy, Austria, Greece, and France.
What types of cherries do we track?
For precise market analysis, we divide quotations into several important segments relevant to producers and traders:
- Sweet cherries: premium dessert varieties such as Kordia, Regina, and Burlat, sold fresh in retail and HoReCa channels
- Dark cherries: deeply colored, large-caliber fruit preferred for export markets and luxury packaging
- Early and late varieties: tracking price differences between early-season (May–June) and late-season (July–August) harvests
Factors influencing cherry prices
Cherry prices are extremely sensitive to weather — rain during ripening can cause cracking and dramatically reduce marketable yield. Caliber, color intensity, and firmness determine the grade and price category.
