BLE/BZL: Cultivation of vegetables in Germany declining in 2022

In Germany, vegetables were grown on about 126,000 ha in 2022 - a decrease of about 4 % compared to the previous year. Asparagus, onions, lettuces and carrots grew on more than half of this area, according to the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food.

What role organic cultivation plays in this varies greatly: in the case of carrots, the share of organically

grown crops fell by around 1 %.
