Beetroot - the price trend has slowed down.

The prices of young beetroot were decreasing in large wholesale both in June and July. However, this trend clearly slowed down in the current month, and in the last period it even stopped. Interestingly, in small wholesale, on some local exchanges, there was an increase in beetroot prices.

This situation is a result of unfavorable weather conditions. They influenced the current harvest of these vegetables, and consequently the currently available supply. That's why beetroot prices have stopped falling and even increased locally. Most likely, this situation will not change in the coming days. Currently, the selling prices of washed beetroots, packed in bags, in large wholesale are in the range of 0.70-1.00 PLN/kg (0.16-0.23 EUR/kg).

The issue is that beetroot prices in June of this year experienced a very sharp decline. So significant that the average fell below the values from all five previous seasons, as we can see on the chart. The current halt in this downward trend has not changed much in this unfavorable market picture.

The current average is only higher than one season from this comparison - it was worse around July 22, 2020. At that time, we also experienced a sharp deterioration in beetroot prices. Furthermore, at the end of July 2020, the downward trend remained active, despite a decrease in its intensity. Back then, beetroots were ending July with an average price in large wholesale at barely 0.67 PLN/kg (0.16 EUR/kg). What will happen now?
