Prices of beetroot are resistant to decrease.
Seasonally, the regular scenario for the autumn phase of the beetroot trade campaign is, of course, a downward trend. Its dynamics depend on many factors, but generally in autumn, during the harvest season, wholesale prices of beetroots decrease due to the increasing supply. This scenario can be called the "most probable price curve for the autumn phase of the campaign."
Last year, price changes in the Polish beetroot market deviated from this typical scenario only in the sense that they occurred at a higher price level. Beetroots were simply more expensive than in previous years, but the downward trend was clearly visible in October 2023. Although short-lived.
However, in the current season, we have a completely different situation. Prices of beetroot in the Polish wholesale market, instead of falling, have strengthened, and now remain stable at this higher level. There is no sign of any downward trend at the moment. Selling prices for washed and bagged beetroots in large wholesale range from 0.80 to even 1.50 PLN/kg, depending on quality, variety, and region of the country. Dirty beetroots are priced at 0.70-1.10 PLN/kg. Field beetroots, sold in bulk, are offered from 0.30-0.35 PLN/kg for round varieties.
Of course, the lack of price decrease in October does not mean that they will not decrease later, in November. This happened, for example, in the "expensive" 2022/2023 season. But the probability of such a potential price reduction in November being deep or long-lasting is already quite low.
