Young beetroots are doing slightly better at the end of July.

Young beetroot are ending this month with relatively low prices in large wholesale quantities. The price situation in the market for these vegetables is not favorable for producers, although beetroot currently have slightly higher prices than the July minimum and furthermore they no longer show a downward trend.

However, there is also no clear tendency to make up for previous price losses in the wholesale market for young beetroots, rather we are now witnessing stabilization. As seen in the chart below, the situation is still difficult. Only one season out of the previous five had worse prices than the current one.

chart

Currently, the selling prices of washed beetroot (we are still in the early stage of the season with early varieties) are mostly in the range of 0.80-1.00 PLN/kg (0.19-0.23 EUR/kg). This is slightly better than the July minimum when prices were in the range of 0.70-1.00 PLN/kg (0.16-0.23 EUR/kg), but as can be seen, the difference is not significant. Beetroot prices have not managed to rise above the five-year average (which was 0.96 PLN/kg (0.22 EUR/kg) for the listing from July 31), although the difference is not as large as it was in June or the first two decades of July (which we can also see on our chart).
