Cauliflower - prices are holding steady compared to last year.

The prices of domestic cauliflowers have been rising in the Polish wholesale market since the second half of October, due to the shrinking availability of these vegetables. However, this trend has been at slightly lower levels compared to the same periods last year. At that time, we reported on the fresh-market.pl portal about record prices at the end of the 2023 season. This time, it was always slightly cheaper.

However, this upward trend was halted around October 23, and then, at the end of last month, there was a corrective decline. Quickly offset. However, the end of this week brought another downward correction. In the wholesale market, the selling prices of Polish cauliflowers dropped to the range of 4.00-5.00 PLN/piece. Prices in producers' offers for the goods alone currently start around 3.00 PLN/piece.

The described changes are clearly visible in our chart. It is worth noting two aspects of this situation. Firstly - we have an almost exact copy of the price curve from a year ago. The same factors influencing prices are at play in the market - with generally low supply, we also now have a weakening demand due to the fact that two trading weeks in November are shorter. The role of imports is also increasing. But the second issue is that despite a fairly significant correction (-22 percent), the current average price has still ended up slightly above last year's. Not much (+0.50 PLN per piece), but it is enough for the end of another season to see record high cauliflower prices once again.
