Cauliflower supply still not improving.
There is no improvement in the supply of native cauliflower on the Polish market. After successive weeks during which these vegetables literally cooked in the fields, bacterial and mold diseases as well as pests are reaping their harvest. Cauliflowers are scarce, especially those of good quality and suitable organoleptic characteristics.
Perhaps September will bring an improvement in supply, if the weather finally starts favoring vegetable crops. But even if synoptic conditions in the coming weeks are the most optimal possible, the earlier losses cannot be fully recovered. This means that the 2024 season will most likely continue to be marked by above-average prices.
For now, the gap, or rather the chasm, in the supply of Polish cauliflowers is so large that it has resulted in absolutely record prices for these vegetables in the domestic wholesale market. Prices the market has never seen before. This is perfectly visible on our chart.
Wholesale prices of cauliflowers have already reached the level of 7.00-9.00 PLN/piece (1.64-2.10 EUR/piece). They have been on an upward trend since mid-July. Since then, the average price has increased by 129 percent. Compared to the average price of the past five years, there has been an increase of 153 percent.
