The prices of cauliflower continue to decline.
In the fresh vegetable market, we continue to see a downward trend in cauliflower prices in the Polish wholesale. This trend started back in August and significantly reduced the prices of these vegetables. However, it began at a "cosmically" high price level and until recently, the average selling price of cauliflowers remained higher than in previous years.
But this week, this relationship has changed. The continuation of price reductions has brought the sale prices of cauliflowers in large wholesale to the range of 2.80-4.00 PLN/piece. This gives an average of 3.40 PLN/piece, which is 9 percent below the average price from the previous year. Such a development is not entirely surprising.
The weather in September and early October was much better for cauliflowers compared to the hot summer, and finally, the market saw an increase in the supply of these vegetables. And since we are in another season where there is not much demand for these vegetables from processors, the fresh market supply has increased even more significantly. As a result, we have seen the described drop in prices.
Finally, it is worth noting that cauliflowers were one of the vegetables for which the Central Statistical Office (GUS) increased the estimated harvest for 2024 compared to the July forecast. Currently, it is 117,000 tons, up from 117,000 tons. However, this is still the lowest level in years.
