What about the prices of cauliflowers?

The season of Polish cauliflowers in its wholesale dimension is currently entering the final phase. It usually ends with the first decade of November. So, what is the price situation on the Polish cauliflower market in the last month of this phase? Recall that the prices of these vegetables in the Polish large wholesale market decreased by 58 percent between the end of August and the beginning of October this year and reached a fairly clear bottom, at least compared to the prices we were used to in the 2024 season.

However, in the recent days, that declining trend has been reversed. Time does not stand still, and although the weather in October is quite favorable for cauliflowers, the decrease in supply, typical for the end of the season, has already started to show in the fresh market. Currently, the selling prices of cauliflowers in large wholesale (with a carton) are mostly between 3.00-5.00 PLN/piece, depending on the size, quality, and region of the country. This is on average 13 percent above the average price from the previous five years. As seen, the aforementioned "price bottom" had a relative nature. Compared to previous seasons, it was still quite expensive. This made it easier for cauliflowers to quickly recover from such a "price bottom."

However, there is no comparison to the prices from the same period last year. In the second half of October 2023, the prices of these vegetables in the Polish wholesale market soared, even exceeding 6.00 PLN/piece. It seems that with the current weather conditions and supply realities, there is no chance of repeating last year's prices. On the other hand, it is worth remembering that the price surge back then was temporary, and at the beginning of November, right at the end of the regular season in the large wholesale market, the prices were at a similar level to what they are now.
