The prices of green beans have stabilized.

The seasonal trend of discounted prices for asparagus beans has been interrupted. In wholesale, there was even a slight upward correction in the selling prices of this vegetable (+8 percent). This was followed by a stabilization of prices in wholesale, which has been ongoing for the past two weeks.

The reason for this situation is obvious - the weather. Heatwaves and storms have disrupted the normal trends in the market for many vegetables at this stage of the campaign, affecting both supply and prices, including for asparagus beans. As with any disruption, it will eventually be overcome by a long-term trend. The only question is how soon this will happen.

For now, the selling prices of asparagus beans in wholesale mostly range between 6.00-8.00 PLN/kg (1.41-1.88 EUR/kg). As shown in the chart above, this results in an average price very similar to the average of the previous five years (7.00 PLN/kg (1.65 EUR/kg) compared to 6.60 PLN/kg (1.55 EUR/kg)).

In the wholesale market, it is already noticeable that the current supply of asparagus beans is showing signs of improvement. Locally, offers with prices below 6.00 PLN/kg (1.41 EUR/kg) have already appeared. Therefore, unless the weather disrupts again, we can expect a return to a downward trend in the prices of asparagus beans in the near future. However, this downward trend is not expected to be very dynamic.
