The trading of green beans is still ongoing.

The main part of the commercial season for domestic green beans in large wholesale has already ended, at least when it comes to large wholesale. But this vegetable has not completely disappeared from the offerings of Polish producers and wholesalers yet. Trade in green beans in small wholesale is still ongoing. And the prices? As is typical at the end of the campaign, they tend to rise. However, was this tendency significant enough to consider the current prices of green beans as unusually high?

Current prices for yellow green beans in wholesale on a slightly larger scale are mostly between 12.00-15.00 PLN/kg. This is about 4 percent more than at the end of last week. And a whopping 116 percent more than a month ago. The clear decrease in supply of this vegetable, and as a result the price increase, began in the second half of October. In the first half of last month, there were quite a lot of beans on the domestic market, and their prices at 6.00-8.00 PLN/kg in large wholesale were relatively low.

As for small wholesale, the lowest price was noted in Poznań, ranging from 8.00-10.00 PLN/kg, and in Bronisze it was 9.00 PLN/kg. On other markets, prices were mostly between 12.00 PLN/kg and 16.00 PLN/kg. A year ago, at the beginning of November, market prices were mostly in the range of 10.00-15.00 PLN/kg, so it was slightly cheaper. Two years ago, these prices were in an even lower range of 8.00-12.00 PLN/kg. The number of wholesale markets that still report green beans is decreasing, a clear sign that the season in small wholesale is about to end soon.
