France: Winter lettuce production declines despite increasing areas
According to estimates released by the French statistical service Agreste on 1 April 2023, the national harvest of winter lettuce will decline by 18% year-on-year in the 2022-2023 season - despite a 14% increase in cultivated areas, from 3.349 ha to 3.5 ha.
This decline in available quantities was seen in all varieties. The mild temperatures
were seen as the reason.
