"Bottom onion price seems to be in sight"

The Dutch onion sector is adjusting to recent market price pressure, with bale prices now at €0.80-€0.95. Eric Moerdijk of Monie, a grading and packing company, believes the bottom has been reached.

The market is improving as importers use up their extra stock. The rest of the season remains uncertain due to divided opinions about stock levels and speculation. The limited supply of European and Egyptian onions may impact exports. In the red onion market, prices for smaller grades are rising slightly, while large and supers remain stable.
