Global shortage of onion volumes
Nearly all major onion producing countries in Europe have reduced their plantings. Spain is estimated to have gone from 1.567 million tonnes to 1.198 million tonnes, while the Netherlands has gone from 1.768 million tonnes to 1.494 million tonnes. Overall, the European crop this season will decrease by 13.4%, from 7.293 million tonnes to 6.314 million tonnes.
