Since 1998, the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) has been focused on potato breeding, an important but often overlooked aspect of agriculture in Ethiopia. Despite a large number of Ethiopians experiencing food insecurity, potatoes have received minimal government investment in the country's agricultural sector.
