More bell peppers

The supply of national peppers has increased in recent weeks. This is especially noticeable in the case of red peppers. This change was significant enough to have a clear impact on wholesale prices of this vegetable. However, it is important to remember that about three weeks ago, the supply of peppers was much worse. In fact, it was quite bad. At that time, the prices of this vegetable in the Polish wholesale market were quite high.

chart

We can see this on our chart. In the second half of July, peppers in the Polish wholesale market became more expensive due to low supply, a result of very unfavorable weather conditions. When the supply started to improve, prices began to decline, but they were falling from a relatively high level.

Currently, the selling prices of red and yellow peppers in large wholesale markets are mostly in the range of 4.00-5.00 PLN/kg (approximately 0.93-1.16 EUR/kg), green peppers are 3.00-3.80 PLN/kg (about 0.70-0.88 EUR/kg), and white peppers are 3.00-4.00 PLN/kg (about 0.70-0.93 EUR/kg). This is 13 percent above the five-year average and nearly 5 percent more than in the same period last year. Therefore, we are seeing a reversal of these relationships compared to the situation at the beginning of July.

Of course, the key to further developments will be the weather. If August brings meteorological conditions more favorable to pepper cultivation, prices will go down. However, the weather is always unpredictable, and seasonal factors will soon start to work towards limiting any price decreases.
