Volume of potato imports (categories: CN 07019090 - Potatoes, fresh or chilled except seed potatoes, potatoes for starch production, from 1 July to 31 December, and CN 07019050 - Potatoes, fresh or chilled except seed potatoes, potatoes for starch production, young, from 1 January to 30 June) to Poland amounted to 184.1 thousand tonnes in 2020, and its value to PLN 211.3 million. read more

The volume of potato exports (category 070190 - Potatoes, fresh or chilled, excluding seed potatoes) in 2020 amounted to 26.2 thousand tonnes and its value to PLN 26.3 million. This means a decline in exports in this category, especially in value terms. read more

In the large potato producing countries of north-western Europe, such as the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, trade in potatoes for the fresh market and for processing was fairly stable in February, with some recovery in Belgium and the Netherlands in terms of spot transactions. read more

The cold and snowy weather has left its mark on the market for fresh vegetables. It has pushed up the wholesale prices of a number of them. However, at least for the time being, potatoes are not included in this group. At least when it comes to prices on the large wholesale market. read more

The situation on the Polish wholesale potato market has slightly improved compared to January this year. The improvement may not be huge, as it's around 20 per cent on average in terms of prices, but compared to what happened earlier, it's still not bad. We analyse the CSO data for the whole year 2020 and the production of frozen vegetables and fruit and vegetable juices as well as vegetable pickles. In this period, we can see a decrease in the production sector of juices, frozen vegetables and especially frozen fruits in relation to 2019. Only in the category of vegetable pickles the CSO recorded a year-on-year increase in production. read more
